SOUTH SCHOOL APRIL NEWSLETTER
26th April 2004 Dear
Parent/Guardian, My apologies
for not communicating before now its week 3 of the summer term already!
The staff and pupils have all been really busy and so many things have
passed us by in such a short time.
The severe roof leaks in the infant area. This has
been resolved & we are now waiting for the roof area to be replaced.
Scottish Business in the Community meeting perhaps
we will be supported with resources for the school.
Wick Academy Penalty Kick Offs competition on
Saturday 24th April. Jamie Cormack and Ryan Banks represented the school.
Im sure they made admirable attempts at goal scoring but this year North
school won. Well done to them!
May Day Holiday
School will be closed on Monday 3rd May for all staff and pupils. School
resumes on Tuesday 4th May at the usual time.
Caithness Music Festival
This county event has had to be cancelled this year as it clashes with the
European elections. Refunds will be made to those children who paid a
1.50 entrance fee.
Gym shoes
Please ensure that your child has a pair of gym shoes to wear, quite a few
children have returned from the Easter break without a pair. Each child
has been given a clothes peg to clip together their outdoor shoes or their
gym shoes. This is an attempt to keep the cloakrooms tidy and to solve the
problem of missing footwear! Can you please ensure that your childs
name is written inside each gym shoe?
Student placement
Miss Sutherland began a four-week placement in Primary 7 last week. She is
currently in her second year of a degree course at Aberdeen University.
Nursery Assistant update
Mrs Durrand has resigned from her post as Nursery Assistant; she has
decided to concentrate on being a full time mum! Mrs Tait will
continue to be in the temporary post for the remainder of this session.
Zebra Crossing
At long last we have our crossing and guard rails in place. Im sure you
all welcome this addition to the school environment. Many thanks to
the Safer Routes To School group for their commitment and hard work.
Please ensure that you go over the safe way to use the crossing with your
child.
 Wait at the kerb
Look, listen and check for traffic
 Always cross on the stripes
