Newsletter 1 December 2005

Dear Parent

Newsletter 01.12.05

Adverse Weather- My apologies that the school closure telephone line was not updated until 8.10 a.m. last Friday morning but I had some difficulty at home accessing the telephone line and had to come into school to get it done. These problems have now been sorted and I should be able to get the message on much earlier next time this occurs. Please find on the back of this Newsletter the official guidance for parents on the use of the telephone information service. I will not, however, be using the other features as indicated at the bottom of the page and I would recommend that the pink flier you received is the most straightforward way to keep the information number to hand.

School Board/Parent Council: A Comparison A number of leaflets with this title have been received from the Scottish Office and are available in reception for any parent who wishes one.

Christmas Lunch Arrangements Wed 7 December To accommodate all children P1-3 will have their lunch from 12 1 p.m. and then watch a video from 1 2 p.m. Children in P4-7 will watch a video from 12 1 p.m. and then have lunch from 1 2 p.m. This is the only way I can make the staff available to support the lunch and still be able to eat themselves. If your child is going home then this will be at 12 noon for P1-3 and 1 p.m. for P4-7. I would appreciate if no children from P1-7 returned before 2 p.m. as all staff will be fully occupied and unable to answer the door or supervise playground etc. All children having a school lunch should come in to Reception between 8.45 9.10 a.m. on Wednesday bringing 1.50 if required. Staff will be at tables in reception to deal with the 150+ children so please come early if you can.

Winter Show

 Wed 15 Dec 7 p.m.

 Thurs 16 Dec 7 p.m.

Fri 17 Dec 10.30 a.m. (by popular demand!)

Tickets costing 3 will be available on Tues 6 Dec from 7-8 p.m. in the school reception. Parents who have helped make costumes may jump the queue and come along at 6.45 p.m. to get priority tickets as a way of saying thank you. Thereafter they can be purchased from the school office and I will issue children with a tear-off slip on Wed 7 Dec for your convenience. All seats will be specific, with row and number indicated, and it is essential that you bring these tickets with you so that you can be shown to the appropriate seat. Adults only at the two evening performances, please, to allow parents to enjoy these performances without it being interrupted by young children. If you would like to bring youngsters you are welcome to do so at the morning performance, but we would appreciate if you would take them out if they become disruptive in any way as it spoils it for everyone else. Running time as yet is unknown but I should be able to let you know by 7 Dec. There will have to be short intervals between each of the three main shows and during this time we will have a Lucky Programme and a Raffle. Donations for these would be greatly appreciated. Specific arrangements for supervision of pupils, time of arrival etc for Show Evenings will follow in next weeks Newsletter.
