INHALERS AND OUT OF SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
I would like to remind parents that although we keep reliever inhalers in school for P1-3 pupils, children in P1-3 who require an inhaler should carry their own inhaler for activities outwith school eg swimming, after school clubs etc. P4-7 pupils are expected to carry their own reliever inhaler at all times.

SCHOOL CLOSURE

Following the recent school closure I would like to remind parents that the school only has one external line which means we cannot phone out if you are phoning in. We tried on several occasions to contact Moray Firth Radio but they were also inundated with phone calls from parents asking if schools within their area were open. Can I remind you of the various ways to find out if the school is closed:

Weather Line 0870 054 6999, PIN 042640

Website www.winter.highlandschools.org.uk

Moray Firth Radio 102.5 FM

Please be as patient as possible as it can be quite difficult to get information out once the decision is made to close.

JEWELLERY/PHYSICAL EDUCATION
It has been brought to my attention by teaching staff that several pupils have recently had piercings and cannot remove items of jewellery for a period of 6-8 weeks. I have previously notified parents and remind you again that children who cannot remove jewellery cannot take part in any Physical Education activities; this would include PE, swimming, rugby, football, netball school sports etc. I would ask parents to cooperate with the school by ensuring any piercings are carried out during the school holidays, ideally the summer holiday, to ensure the minimum disruption.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents that children should not wear hoop ear rings to school.

ENROLMENT
Enrolment for Nursery 3 and 4 pupils will be held week commencing Monday, 20 March.

MONEY TO SCHOOL
Can parents please ensure children bring tuck money to school in a purse/wallet clearly marked with their name. It would also be useful if payments for specific activities eg Festival, trips, came in an envelope marked with the childs name, class and the activity as often we have more than one class involved in more than one activity at any one time!!

P2 - MISSING CLOTHING
Chloe Hawthorne, P2 is missing a black sweatshirt which has her name on the tag. It went missing following a gym lesson on Monday 6 March so we think someone has lifted it by mistake. Please check and give the office a call if you find it. Thank you in anticipation.

SCIENCE 03 FESTIVAL

This year all pupils from P1-7 will have the opportunity to participate in the Science 03 Festival coordinated by Professor Iain Baikie. In previous years there have only been activities for P5-7 pupils, hopefully in the future we will be able to include our Nursery.

This year there are also an evening show taking place in Mount Pleasant on Thursday 23 March from 7.00 9.00pm. These shows are for parents and pupils.

NURSERY FUNDRAISING

Thank you to everyone who ordered pancakes from the Nursery. They raised a grand total of 72.90. Thank you also to Dawn Peddie and Julie Gunn for organising the Easter Egg Competition and donating the prizes. The winners will be presented with their eggs at the end of term assembly.

SCHOOL BOARD

Due to the Mackrell family leaving the area in the near future, Mrs Mackrell will be resigning from the School Board as of Easter. We are delighted to say Mrs Fiona MacKechnie has agreed to take over her duties as Treasurer however we still require another parent member to replace her on the school board. If you are interested, please contact Hilary at the school office.

We are also pleased to welcome Rev John Stevenson to the board as he replaces Euan Falconer. Our thanks go to Euan for his contribution to the board over the years.

Copies of School Board minutes are available on the school website and also on the notice board outside the office. The next meeting will be held on Monday, 26 June at 7.00 pm.

PSA NEWS
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 30 March at 6.30 pm. Copies of PTA minutes are available on the school website and also on the notice board outside the school office.
