Welcome Back!
I hope everyone had a good summer holiday. The weather was wonderful and
the children are looking so well after such a prolonged spell of warm
sun. Before long I think some of the P7 children will be as tall as me!
I would particularly like to welcome new families
to the school - those with children in P1 and Nursery and families who
have recently enrolled from other areas. Please feel free to contact the
school at any time if there is anything you're not sure about.
School Uniform
Last week more than 95% of children were wearing school uniform.
Thank you for supporting the school. It looks so nice and is often
commented on when visitors come to the school.
Staff News
This session Mrs Gordon will be the Nursery Co-ordinator teacher and
Miss Laughton will be in P6.
Crossing Patroller - Janet Street
Ms Bremner will be leaving her post at the beginning of September.
The job will be advertised shortly. Anyone interested in applying is
welcome to come to school for an informal visit and see what is
involved.
Holiday Dates
Holiday dates for this session and next are included with this
newsletter. They are also available to view on the Highland Council
website in the Schools section. In an effort to reduce our paper and
photocopying costs please keep them in a safe place to reduce further
copying being needed.
School Website
I am aware that this needs updated, however, until a new Headteacher is
appointed I intend to post newsletters and school news items to
caithness.org in line with other schools in the county.
Safety Issues
Can I remind parents/carers not to walk down the drive to collect
their children and to avoid using the Staff Carpark at all times. Large
delivery vehicles reverse down the drive on a daily basis. It is not a
safe area for pedestrians.
The 20mph Speed Limit applies in the morning, at
lunchtime and at hometime. Please adhere to this and also avoid parking
on the zig-zag lines.
Pupil Records
Please let us know of any changes regarding your child's health,
medication, change of address and contact telephone numbers.
Ormlie Community Association
I have been asked to pass on information regarding Caithness Arts
Week which runs from 18th - 21st September. These After School Sessions
and Community Partnership Programmes have proved very popular with
children. I will highlight them at Assembly and further details are
available on
the Notice Board outside the School Office.
Head Lice
They are alive and kicking! Please be vigilant and check your
child's hair regularly. There are Information Leaflets outside the
office offering advice on treatment.
