Keiss Primary school was one of 10 schools receiving a visit in January from the Caithness based Grey Coast Theatre Company. Grey Coast have been giving youngsters the chance to get involved in a short production written by George Gunn himself. | |
George Gunn has written two short
plays under the title Winter Yarns and Keiss chose to put on one of them
"Fergus & Finbar". The play had plenty of action and was set in a
mythical Ireland filled with magic and a young couples fight to be
together despite the sorcery of the mother.
In the day children had to rehearse make costumes and generally get prepared for series of songs and activities around the main cast of actors from Grey coast. A surprising number of people turned out for the afternoon performance in the small school hall. An undoubted success with the children and audience alike no doubt the children would like to try out more in the acting field after this event. Only Keiss & Tongue put on public performances. The few weeks of the tour has been funded by a National Lottery Grant. |
