The Olrig & District Beekeepers Association meets
roughly once a month. In Summer we have demonstrations.

By popular demand, a Honey Tasting evening – bring along a jar of honey (which need not be your own). Also a welcome to anyone who is interested in taking up beekeeping.Varroa Checks Thursday, 9th December 2010 ‘A Caithness Year in Beekeeping’ – followed by a discussion on experiences and problems from the past season. Thursday, 13th January 2011 Spring Feeding, Colony build up and expansion, Queen Rearing. Thursday, 17th February 2011 Varroa and bee diseases update. Thursday, 24th March 2011 Annual General Meeting Varroa Checks In order to check that Caithness is still Varroa free, please could all beekeepers in Caithness send Spring floorboard scrapings so that they can be checked for Varroa. The envelope of scrapings should be clearly marked “Bee Diseases” and sent to SASA (Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture) :- Mrs Fiona Highet SASA, 1, Roddinglaw Road Edinburgh.
