Shelagh Swanson grew up on Tister Farm near Halkirk and has recently graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art/Painting from Grays School of Art in Aberdeen.  She now lives in Bower.

The objects used in the constructions were found in the shed next to my home.  The house was previously occupied by Alec and Elsie Waters, whom I frequently visited as a child. 

The shed's contents had not been touched since Alec Waters has used them, for joinery work and repairs. 

I was inspired to create these constructions to explore my childhood memories of the brother and sister -, for example playing cards with 'Sanny', (how Alec was more familiarly known) or having tea with Elsie.

I explored how these glimpses of memory could be further embellished with use of objects, looking at photographs and second hand knowledge.'
