WHALE BONE CRUCKFRAME AT DUNNET This cruck frame lies in the ruin of a cottage at Dunnet,(ND 220 713) outside the west wall of the church-yard, and appears to have supported the roof of an outhouse. The holes to carry the pegs to join adjacent sections can be seen. Whale bone arches were once more common, the best-known example being the one at Latheronwheel.(ND 184 317) |
