collections of examples of rocks from all over the world. Whether
you are a geologist or merely interested to see the fascinating range of
colours and textures it is well worth the stop at Golspie. Samples
for sale range from pennies to hundreds of pounds. It costs £1 to
enter the exhibition.
The family business was established by Anne and Don shelly in 1970.
The collection has fine mineral specimens from all over the world. and a
separate section for Highland rocks, minerals and fossils and except for
the National Museums is probably without equal in Scotland. there
are displays of fluorite and haematite from British mines, Scottish agates
and huge amethyst geodes.
A unique collection of semi-precious stone spheres and a special
fluorescent minerals room. A geological relief model and diorama of
the Assynt district of Sutherland and other materials. The business closed about 4 years ago around 2017
