The new pier development at Scrabster will commence shortly with pile driving work.  A 175 foot crane has been erected and will move into position shortly to commence work.  Scrabster will ring to the sound of the pile driver for the next few months between 7.30am and 7.30pm the maximum time allowed.   The pier is due to be completed by August 2002.  This is in time for the new and much larger ferry due to commence operations between Scrabster and Stromness in Orkney
